The reports continue to confuse but...

Hello again,

The newspaper reports continue to confuse over the power situation for mumbai - on the one hand extra power will be made available very soon, on the other the situation will revert to crisis-condition in the not-to-distant future.

Again the best course of action for us mumbaikars is to take remedial action now when remedial action can be planned and implemented most efficiently.

One on-going suggestion is for large groups like housing societies, schools, colleges, hospitals etc to implement energy-saving devices in open places where lighting is not so crucial.

These days the best way to approach problems is by going the green way. Whatever solution is opted for should be environmentally safe and sustainable. Where outdoor lighting is concerned a green way to go is by opting for solar lanterns. At about Rs3000 to Rs9000 these are affordable by most housing societies, hospitals etc. A few placed in open positions will ensure enough lighting during night-time and the electricity thus saved will be far more valuable than whatever promises the electric companies or power ministry's have to offer.

Moreover, not only do these lanterns have an immediate pay-back period, they increase their financial worth as time goes by for electric rates will only go upwards.

Finest Regards,
